Below is a description of the session:
Movement Matters: How to Incorporate Joyful Motion and Nature-Based Practices into the School Day
This workshop seeks to honor the somatic needs of students and adults throughout the school day. It includes resources and ideas for a range of constituents, from supporting students with joyful movement in the classroom to providing faculty with more opportunities to embrace the outdoors. Through a combination of research and best practices, participants will leave this session with strategies and activities that can be easily embedded into the school day. You will learn how to incorporate a Peace Place into your classroom, teach young students about consent through engaging with nature, and get faculty members outside for department meetings. You will be asked to take an active role in small group breakout sessions. Please wear exercise clothing and footwear, and be ready to move!
Also attending were Librarian Ruth Malwitz and Math Department Chair Katie Lubrant.
