Swimmers Compete in South Jersey Coaches’ Invitational & McNitt Meet; Matt Strauss ’27 Wins Bronze in 100 Butterfly

The Moorestown Friends School Boys’ and Girls’ Swimming teams delivered outstanding performances at the Division B SJISA Coaches’ Invitational and McNitt Meet on Saturday at Gloucester County Institute of Technology. Under the guidance of coaches Mick Sullivan, Gerald Andorko, and student coach Aarav Shah ‘26, nearly all of the swimmers achieved personal bests, making it a day of great success for the team.

Matt Strauss ’27 highlighted the day for the Foxes, capturing a bronze medal in the 100 butterfly at the SJISA Coaches’ Invitational Meet. He was the lone individual boys’ qualifier for this meet and also finished ninth in the 100 backstroke. On the girls’ side, individual qualifiers for the Coaches’ Invitational Meet were Logan Shields ‘25, Ava Ellis ‘25, Charlotte Brown ‘27, and Abby Lin ‘28. Logan was the top finisher for the Foxes, placing 7th in the 100 backstroke and 12th in the 100 butterfly. 

Vincent D’Amico ’28 captured third place in the 50 butterfly at the McNitt Meet. George Crossley ’27 finished in fourth place in the 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly. McNitt Meet events take place throughout the Invitational Meet for swimmers who do not reach qualifying times for the invitational. Also participating for the boys were Kieran Ning ’27, and for the girls: Olivia Martin ‘27, Aashi Reddy ‘26, and Tessa Haines ‘26

The Girls’ Team finished 7th in team scoring while the boys finished 15th overall.
