Students Showcase Research, Exploration, and Design at 25th Annual Science and Engineering Exposition

Apr 27, 2023

The MFS Science and Engineering Exposition (SEE) returned to an in-person event on April 27 for the first time in four years (due to the pandemic). The event showcased the scientific research done in students’ Middle and Upper School science classes.

Science Department Chair and Upper School Physics teacher Jennifer Mosher kicked off the event noting, “science is an essential part of how we experience the world – it is a source of  the underlying patterns of our lives – days & nights, seasons, transportation, sports, communications, and more – and has the capacity to fill us with awe and wonder at the beauty, complexity, and intricacy of the universe. Our discovery of those patterns and complexities is a human endeavor that we all participate in and benefit from.”

After three years of hosting SEE virtually, students of all ages, family members, faculty, and staff enjoyed engaging over interesting scientific experiments. A few highlights from the event included:

  • Geology and space, body systems, and the giant periodic table in the Middle School
  • Demonstrations of Middle and Upper School robotics, as well as engineering activities by the Upper School Engineering Club and the Women in STEM club
  • Crime scene analysis, independent biology research projects, chemistry and physics demonstrations in the Upper School
