On March 3, 28 Upper School students participated in the annual Upper School Instrumental Music Retreat, a full day dedicated to extended rehearsals, master classes, and discussions about ensemble instrumental music.
Students began the day with a breakfast and group discussion before breaking out for rehearsals as the Upper School Symphonic/Jazz Ensemble and the Upper School String Ensemble. Next, the musicians had master classes: Strings with Rebecca Ansel ’91, Percussion with Dennis Walter, Brass with John Lindner, and Reeds with Bob Apgar. The retreat concluded with a debriefing.
