Kayla Patel ’21 attended the 2018 Southern New Jersey History Bee and Bowl at Donovan Catholic High School in Toms River on February 17. Both the National History Bee and National History Bowl are buzzer-based history quiz competitions where high school students attempt to be the first to ring in and answer paragraph-length questions about various topics in history. Students who finish in the top half of the preliminary round totals qualify for the National History Bee and Bowl Championships.
For the Bowl, Kayla made it to the playoffs and ended up getting third place overall. For the Bee, she was a finalist and placed second overall for a silver medal. Kayla’s performance qualified her for Nationals for both the Bowl and Bee, and she will be attending the National History Bee and Bowl Championships from April 28-29 in Washington, D.C.
