Middle School FoxBots Robotics Team Competes in FIRST Lego League Scrimmage

Dec 11, 2024

The MFS Middle School Robotics Team, the FoxBots, competed in the FIRST Lego League (FLL) Scrimmage at Cherokee High School on November 23. In FLL Robotics, teams compete in four judged areas: the Robot Game, Robot Design, Core Values, and Innovation Project. Seventh graders Agnes Dao, Inaya Chhipa, and Sindhu Talapaneni headed up the Innovation Project for the team where they proposed a solution for this year’s project question: How can we make it easier for scientists to explore the ocean? The team’s proposed solution is to fund and build a large floating platform out in the Atlantic Ocean powered by renewable energy that could serve as a base for deep sea research. seventh graders Kerry O’Connor, Caleb Rosmarin, Brielle Hamilton and sixth grader Aasim Zaidi worked diligently to design a robot that could complete as many missions on the game map as possible. At the competition, teams are given three 2.5-minute runs on the game field to score as many points as possible. The FoxBots were able to secure fourth place in the Robot Game out of 13 teams. A really good finish for the team. The FoxBots will continue to work on their robot and Innovation Project as they prepare for their South Jersey Qualifier in early February.
