Lauren Kam ’21 has been selected as a member of the highly competitive Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO). Lauren successfully completed a rigorous audition process and will play with the Orchestra this season as a violist.
Over the next several months, Lauren will participate in four live performances at Verizon Hall, located within the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. These concerts include the music of master composers Wagner, Shostakovich, Schumann, Strauss, Bruch, Saint-Saens, and more.
Now in its 79th year, the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra carries on a rich tradition of support for young classical musicians. Performers range in age from 14 to 21 and have auditioned from nearly 20 counties in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Many PYO participants continue their musicianship at colleges, conservatories, and orchestras around the world.
In addition to her new role at PYO, Lauren is also principal violist in the orchestra at Temple Music Prep’s Center for Gifted Young Musicians (CGYM).
