Junior Wins Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Kira Patel ’24 was recognized with Gold Key awards in the poetry category in both the 2022 and 2023 Region-at-Large East Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her pieces “2006,” “mourning,” and “grateful.” Students nationwide in grades 7-12 submitted works in 29 categories of art and writing, and submissions were juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts. To be recognized, panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.

As a Gold Key winner, Kira’s 2023 piece, “grateful,” has been submitted to the national competition and will be considered for national medals and sponsored awards.
