A balanced scoring attack and stifling defense helped the MFS Girls’ Basketball team to a 46-32 Friends Schools League (FSL) semifinal victory yesterday in Baiada Field House.
Senior Alyssa Runyan (17 points, 10 rebounds) made three consecutive three-point shots in the second quarter to swing the momentum in the Foxes favor. Her sister sophomore Bella Runyan (11 points) made 4 of 4 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. Senior Charlotte Stern had 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The Foxes face Abington Friends on Friday night at 6 p.m. at LaSalle University’s Gola Arena in the FSL championship game. Tickets may be purchased in advance in the MFS Athletics Office, located just outside Baiada Field House Gym beginning Thursday afternoon through 1 p.m. on Friday.
Saturday the team will travel to Eastern High School for the quarterfinals of the prestigious South Jersey Invitational Basketball Tournament. The Foxes take on Olympic Conference power Shawnee at 3:30 p.m.
Come out and cheer on the Foxes Friday and Saturday!
