Fourth Graders Study American Revolution

Apr 28, 2022

Fourth graders recently wrapped up extensive research and study of the American Revolution.

The unit included a visit to the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia.

The culminating activities in both Ted Quinn’s and Katherine Temple’s classes included a mix of presentations and reports on a variety of topics.

“The unit built content knowledge, along with critical thinking, research, and writing skills,” said Fourth Grade Teacher Ted Quinn.

Students delved into a very interesting mix of topics chronicling and analyzing the life and times leading up to, during, and after the American Revolution.

Ava explored the Battles of Lexington and Concord. “It was pretty challenging,” she said. “There was a lot to do and a lot to learn, but now I’m very confident in what I know and learned a lot from my classmates about the American Revolution.”

Arrianna spent time expanding about “Foods of the Colonial Kitchen.” Ibrahim detailed the Boston Tea Party, before, during, and after the momentous event. Bryn researched and illustrated the great architecture of this period. The list of creative topics went on and on.

The classes will now turn their attention to the study of the U.S. Constitution. “I am looking forward to learning about how the Constitution is different from the Declaration of Independence,” said Dylan.
