Former Trustee Pens Article In National Magazine About MFS Head’s Transition
Former MFS School Committee member Peter Baily, who recently completed 10 years of service to the Friends equivalent of a Board of Trustees, is the author of an article in the Fall issue of Independent School magazine titled Boardroom: The Trustee’s Role in Ensuring a Smooth Headship Transition. The piece chronicled the transition of current Head of School Julia de la Torre into her role in 2018, taking over for long-time Head of School Larry Van Meter ’68 who was retiring. Peter provided an expert vantage point as a member of the Head Transition Planning Committee.
Peter, a former school head, is the executive director of the Association of Independent Maryland & DC Schools.
