Fifth Grade Wraps Up Ancient Egypt Unit with Penn Museum Visit
Sarah Rotter’s and Christine Cerruti’s fifth grade classes recently studied Ancient Egypt. Throughout their studies, each student selected a topic to research and then presented their findings to their class. The topics included the structure of pyramids, tombs, Egyptian gods, Cleopatra, mummification, and more. These presentations helped to inform each student in more depth about many of the items that they saw during a field trip on March 1 to the Egyptian section of the Penn Museum – “one of the largest collections of Egyptian and Nubian material in the United States.” A tour guide led students through the exhibit, explaining the history and purpose of items. Following the tour, the group enjoyed a workshop that focused on a day in the life of Ancient Egypt.
