Boys’ Soccer Wins NJSIAA Non-Public B South Championship
Yesterday, for the third time in five years, the Boys’ Soccer team captured the NJSIAA Non-Public B South tournament championship. The Foxes, seeded second, traveled to top-seeded Wardlaw-Hartridge and downed the Rams 4-1.
The visitors sprinted out of the gate with three goals in the first 12 minutes, the first by Evan Schlotterbeck and the next two by Matt D’Ottavi. The hosts pulled one back in the 53rd minute on a penalty kick, but Astin Galanis tallied a fourth goal four minutes later for the Foxes to put the game out of reach.
MFS goalie Mikey Paznokas had 10 saves.
Coach Mike Schlotterbeck’s team (17-5) now travels to Kean University in Union on Sunday for the NJSIAA state championship match vs. North champion Gill St. Bernard’s (18-3) at 5:30 p.m. The match will be broadcast for a fee by NJ.com.
