Beginnings Students Receive Virtual Visit from Baby Chicks
A Prekindergarten tradition of hatching chicks continued virtually this year! In early May, PK Assistant Diane Vavricka traveled to a farm owned by alumni parent Lisa Durr; Lisa collected eggs from her hen house for a week and Mrs. Vavricka purchased the incubator and turner.
“On Friday, May 22, after 21 days of children learning all about hatching on Zoom, we finally shared 10 baby chicks with the children,” Mrs. Vavricka said. “I actually put my MacBook into the brooder box so they could feel as close as one can be on a computer.”
In addition to PK, the baby chicks paid a virtual visit to Kindergarten students.
