Lower School
In the Lower School art studio, students experience process-based art in both individual works as well as community works. Students create using a wide variety of quality materials; clay, paint, fiber arts, watercolor, oil pastels and more. Lessons involve developing students’ knowledge of the elements and principles of design, creative thinking, and collaborative work, as well as artist studies. Creativity provides an opportunity for growth mindset and problem solving. Students are encouraged to think outside the box and challenge themselves. Community work provides a collaborative experience and fosters mindful communication skills. During classes, students also have lessons in mindful art making, allowing the process to be focused on awareness, self-compassion, and awe.
